He stands on the edge of the bridge.
From up high he can see for miles.
The bright lights of the city shining proud through the veil of night makes it look as if the starry sky has engulfed the horizon.
The wind blows and caresses his face.
He looks at what is behind him.
The cold unforgiving metal rail.
The loud, noisy cars whizzing and honking past.
The light blurs of headlights and cellphones.
He looks back below at the silence.
Everything looks peaceful and serene.
Even the men with the cameras yelling up at him are muffled by distance and wind.
He looks back now.
The noisy highway has become even louder with the sound of new vehicles.
These ones creating a terrible wail while blinding him with flashing colored lights.
People come out, yelling at him, telling him to do things.
He can't hear them anymore.
He looks back below at the forgiving, peaceful quiet night.
He looks behind him to the loud noise of civilization and life.
He lets go of the cold unforgiving rail.
Leans forward on the crumbling neglected concrete ledge.
The forgiving night takes him in and he is finally at peace.
