This was just a little doodle woodburn I made of Filler Bunny from the JTHM trades. Haha, not exactly the best woodburn I've done but...after the long ass break I took from creating it was the perfect warm up job AND the perfect gift for my current boss who is the first boss deserving of random woodburns. Haha.
Plus, I don't think I've identified so much with a woodburn since I made the recent one of myself.

I think its brilliant, very well done, how does it work anyway?

The woodburning I've never really asked how you do it, so... How does woodburning work? Just grab a hot iron poker and jab some wood?

There's two different ways. It really all depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it.
The first way is to take the woodburning pen (available at any fine craft store), letting it heat and then drawing the outline of your drawing (I usually recommend lightly drawing a dummy sketch on the wood in pencil first so you can trace it). Once the outline is done you paint with wood stains to achieve the various shades you want.
The second method is the way I go about it. You do all the same first steps but instead of using woodstains you use the woodburning pen again. The slower you move the pen, the darker the line. Sometimes this can be a slow process, adding a few extra hours to the creation process, but, in my eyes it's worth it because you achieve a bolder contrast. The slowness is a real pain in the jet black though. If you look at the one I did with Gir and Zim and Zim's holding up the planet, his boots and pants took more then shading ALL OF GIR. So it's a patience thing but it's eerily calming.
Speaking of it being calming, make sure you're in a ventilated room because depending on the wood piece you get you'll purn out varying levels of rosin which is, essentially, sniffing glue so...unless you're looking for a 5th grade high, pop a window, or at least turn a fan on and keep your door open.

Aaaaah I seeee, sounds like a tedious process, you must be patient to do all that eh? Aww, I could never do anything like that. Woah lol.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
